Join us in October for My First Knit Sweater Class!
This series will take you step-by-step through creating an adult-sized top-down seamless sweater from swatching to finishing, with detailed instructions and hands-on help from a master sweater teacher along the way. We will use Heidi Kirrmaier's popular pattern After the Rain, which you can customize with stripes and also to fit your shape.
Dates:
Session 1: Saturday 10/11 1-3 pm
- Choosing a size, setting up the yoke pattern
- Casting on
Session 2: Saturday 10/25 1-3pm
- Dividing for the body
- Pattern modifications
Session 3: Saturday 11/8 1-3 pm
- Picking up and working sleeves
Session 4: Saturday, 11/22 1-3pm
- Finishing and blocking,
- Wrap up party
Skills needed: (Advanced beginner)
- Casting on
- Knit & Purl
- Increases
- Working in the round
- Binding off
Materials needed:
- DK weight yarn in amount for your size
- Needles to achieve gauge of 22 sts and 30 rounds over 4 inches square
- Stitch markers and other basic knitting notions.

Upon sign up, you will be sent detailed instructions on how to get ready for the first class, including yarn suggestions, how to swatch, and a more detailed materials list.
About the Instructor: Sarah Walworth is an author, knitting pattern editor, and industry community leader. She first learned to knit as a child from her mom, but re-learned as an adult when she needed a way to keep her hands busy. It quickly cascaded into re-writing patterns to fit her, learning innovative techniques, and trying all different ways to tension the yarn. She loves to pass on the craft to whomever she can get to hold needles and yarn for a few minutes.
